Pruning Azalea Bonsai to develop denser flower pads

How do you develop these compact Azalea bonsai pads? Azalea has a tendency to grow in a fairly open manner. So you need to prune to get the nice, tight dense pads. How do we do this?

Wow… what amazing Azalea nice work! I just got my first one from a nursery and did the initial hard pruning :(. I did get a bunch of cuttings planted from it though. Maybe one day mine will be half as good as this and I’ll be very satisfied

I have what i call lawnsai azaleas. They are big and old i am thinking about trunk chopping one and possibly putting one in a pot. However i really like them.
