Student pilot here.

1.) Facial hair isn't disallowed. There was an incident where Air Canada banned beards because of this issue, but research showed that an oxygen mask would properly function even with thick beards. The reason airlines ban thick facial hair, piercings, tattoos etc. is because scared passengers want to know that they have a trusted person sitting up front and they may loose this trust if the pilots are untidy.

2.) It's usually the First officer who gets to choose the first meal because of etiquette. There are special crew meals, but if there is some first/business class food left, the pilots are absolutely going for those.

3.) The last point is kind of correct, but not completely. Most emergencies can be dealt with, so specifying the nature of emergency is important when talking about being scared of flying. One think no pilot wishes is getting a call from the back about having visible smoke. Smoke on board is the worst thing you can get period.

4.) 10+ hour flights have 3 and sometimes even 4 crew on board consisting of a captain, senior first officer and another FO. At any point in flight, apart from take offs and landings when all 3 are present on the flight deck, one is sleeping in the back. On shorter flights with only 2 pilots under strict rules one of the pilots is allowed to take a controlled rest (30-45 minutes I think), but one is always supposed to be awake. On transoceanic flights in the dead of night it can happen that both pilots fall asleep. Fatigue is a big problem in the industry.
