Learn ASL: Beginner Lesson for Family Signs, Part 3: Special Family (In-law, step, half, twins)

In this video, practice the American Sign Language signs for special family descriptors like IN-LAW, STEP, HALF, and TWINS / TRIPLETS!

0:22 FAMILY
0:37 IN-LAW / IN LAW (the sign LAW, for "mother in law", "brother in law", and so on)
1:42 STEP (the sign NEXT, for step-sister, step-mother, step-father, etc.) also stepmom, stepdad. I've seen this vary by preference, using "NEXT", "SECOND", or even fingerspelling "step"
2:34 HALF (used also for half-sister, half-brother)
3:03 TWIN / TWINS, and TRIPLETS

Hi meredith! i'm 15 about to turn 16 in a couple months. I have been watching your channel going on for about three years on and off. I'm the only one of my six siblings to learn asl and i never have a study buddy for it. But that hasn't stopped me from learning. For anybody unsure the difference between Step and Half. Step-siblings are not related to you, like Cinderella and her step-sisters, while half-siblings are related by one parent, like demigods, they have one same godly parent but individual mortal parents

I ws taught to sign "twins" as a "T' on either side as opposed to the number "2"

The intro & closing, where you're signing fast, ...there's some good stuff in there I need to know, ...but because ASL doesn't follow English grammar, ...the sign made doesn't always match the word being said (the narration), ...I wish you'd type in parentheses a quick fade in & out of the sign you're making, the moment you're making it. It would flash on the screen for only a second, ..but that's all we'd need. I know it's more work, ...but that would be so cool.

I also have a question can the sign for twin//triplet be signed from left to right it does it have to be right to left (I am right handed)
