Paraglider Almost Dies After His Lines Get Tangled

Paraglider Kevin Philipp nearly died after his lines were tangled. Philipp is seen heading towards the ground from thousands of feet in the air when a gust of wind tangled his lines, which sent him plunging. Then he managed to deploy his rescue parachute with seconds to spare before impact. This is not the paraglider's first near-death accident. Five years ago, Philipp had to learn to walk again after a paragliding fall left him partially paralyzed.

I was a skydiving instructor. I broke my back and was paralyzed putting myself between the ground and my passenger when I was hit with bad turbulence when coming in for landing. She ended up having no injuries.

It's crazy how we humans do skydiving and paragliding, even knowing how dangerous it is. I can understand adrenaline rush and thrill, but if anything goes wrong midair it's almost over...

Lord knows I would’ve passed out the second I realized my parachute was tangled. Knowing how to stay calm in high stress situations is important, so many ppl have ample time to save themselves but once panic sets in, it’s over. Keep a clear mind and do your breathing exercises.
