The worst outcome of that Starbucks debacle: they closed for racial bias training. I never have been a fan of the expensive joke that is Starbucks (hell, McDonald's McFrappes are JUST AS GOOD, and MUCH CHEAPER), but the fact they closed EVERY location, not just the one where the incident took place, for racial reasons is just too fucking ridiculous!

As someone who lives in NYC, we both know all we did when we really needed to go was go into a starbucks and ask someone for the code on the receipt and everyone always gave it to you.

I am an employee at Starbucks, and I called this shit a year ago. My store is now a Haven for the homeless, and I, myself, had to fish a used needle out of our garbage. Some dude passed out at one of our tables, and we couldn’t wake him up. After calling 911, the officer who arrived said he was all too familiar with a great deal of our clientele. We are getting shockingly little business this year, but I thought it was just our store. Guess not. The funny thing is that Starbucks could have - oh I don’t know - stood up for that manager instead of throwing her to the wolves. If the press called the company racist, they should have stood their ground and pointed out any number of the charitable donations they contribute to, or how there are just as many women in corporate positions as men, or how they hired 10, 000 refugees, or how they re-plant coffee trees for farmers in South America, etc., etc., etc. The list literally goes on and on and on, but they didn’t do any of that. They allowed the warmongers in the media to bully them into endangering their customers and their employees. Idiots. Some of our baristas would probably do better in corporate positions...
