I'm so glad that you guys validated using references because I remember being called out by my art teacher for lacking creativity. So thanks for healing the young artist in me lol

Daidus: i hate drawing skirts. Daidus 10 minutes later: *draws a bigger more detailed skirt*

I used to think using reference was "cheating" and only good artists memorized how to draw everything. And only a few years ago did I finally understood you CAN use references and SHOULD lol. I've had much more joy drawing and improving with references.

I love how one of the most iconic images of an artist is an artist drwaing on a canvas while looking at either fruit or a landscape. How did we ever convince young artists that references were cheating?

I like how Daidus says "anything with straight lines is hard" and 10 seconds later they are both drawing rounded houses

Daidus and Emily is a literal embodiment of shounen and shojo

I know animated intros are expensive- but I almost wish there was an alt where Emily makes the save, Daidus makes a face, sighs & spills the ink himself. It just randomly plays every once in a while

Daidus is correct for using fashion magazines as a reference, since Hirohiko Araki has done that so much while drawing JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. What a legend

When yall started drawing the horses, I got flashbacks to the drawing tutorials the movie Spirited had on their dvds special features. Kid me may not have been an actual horse girl who rode horses, but dear gawd was I obsessed w/following that one tutorial 😂

Last year when Spider-Verse came out on Twitter you could see a few folks show the reference development process for their shots & it’s very mesmerizing to see how the final product came to be ❤

Animated films have the animators use tons of self recorded references to make tons of scenes & it’s awesome!

Spilled ink is basically my comfort channel and I thank Emirichu's and Daidus for this!

I love using myself as a reference, it’s always the same and I’ve learned to love myself more by drawing my features

As a horse artist (or at least I have been for the last year lol): My lil critiques on your first set of horsies! Diadus: Honestly your horse wasn't too too tall. It was pretty close 👍 Your issue was actually the nose of the horse was too short. Lengthening the nose would have balanced out those legs and Emirichu: Your horse was pretty close too! Your main issue was the neck was too short. Horses have long necks! Remember: they stretch down to eat the grass on the ground! Overall good tries with those references :)

I am not an artist and have absolutely no talent or interest for drawing, but I love both of your personalities so much. I’m always excited when you guys drop a new video. It’s so fun to watch both of you in your element and having a good time.

Doing an episode where you draw with references is a GREAT idea. It destigmatizes the fact that you're only a good artist if you never use references, so 10/10

18:31 "What power you hold" That is exactly what most of us viewers are thinking when you guys casually make something beautiful and moving from some graphite and paper
