The comments are wild so let me clear some things up. In this video I didn’t mean chicken scratching as massy, sketchy, cross hatching. I mean chicken scratching. Those are different kinds of techniques, while chicken scratching is making tiny lines to make one long line, it often ends up looking fuzzy . A lot of people say that it’s a style but the artist that they mentioned are people that use sketchy lines. In general chicken scratching is something people will discourage you from doing but again if you like it ITS OKAY, you can do whatever you want don’t let a video made by a random person discourage you from doing what you like, it can be made into a style. This trend is about seeing beginners do what you used to do and getting flashbacks, it doesn’t mean that the person is wrong for doing it, it just means that I myself couldn’t do it right and make it look nice, yes I could have worded it differently, but it always gets worded like this, so I thought it was okay.
There a lot of people saying that they do chicken scratching in the comments and again if you like it do it, but it mostly gets dunked on because it causes cts, I and a lot of ppl I know have it for this reason, so I have to warn you. avoid using just your wrist and try drawing with your whole arm. Anyways stay safe and just do you, I wouldn’t mind if you only drew toes for the rest of your life.

Dude chicken scratching is actually part of a lot of people’s styles you’d be surprised how often big artists use it as a stylistic rather than a technical thing.

as a professional artist, this is how I start out my drawings and use it as a stencil to go back with clean crisp lines. You can still use this method as long as you’re using it as a stencil for a true outlined layer.

I grew up doing chicken scratch. I love to do chicken scratch. Chicken scrath is awesome. But yknow what's pretty awesome as well? Just about any artstyle.

We don't care what artsytle you use, just as long as when we look at it, it sparks something in our hearts other than disappointment, or it doesn't remind us of how shit our art was back in elementary (like when most of us were drawing super skinny bodies and giant bulbous heads.)

To all new artists who feel insecure about their skills: don't let "perfect" be the enemy of "good." Nobody is born with masterful expertise of anything, and you'll smooth out the cracks in your art style before you know it.

Let yourself take criticism and watch for areas that need improvement, but also remember that it's your work and you should be proud regardless of the stage you're at 💖

"Chicken stratch" is a style, whether or not it's mainly used by beginners. Some very talented artists use this style. If you do it right, it can/will turn out amazing! Plus, if you are a new artist, keep in mind that no matter what others say, you don't need to change your amazing art!
