Welcome to PE Buddy, Mr. D here!

In today's video, we'll explore the 3 Stages of Learning according to Fitts and Posner, which are essential for skill acquisition. Did you know that, on average, it takes around 10,000 hours of deliberate practice to master a skill? Understanding these stages can help athletes, coaches, and learners become more efficient in their training and improve their performance.

Here's what we'll cover:

Cognitive Stage of Learning: This is the beginner stage where individuals make many mistakes and need external feedback in a closed environment. On average, this stage can take up to 20 hours of practice.

Associative Stage of Learning: In this middle stage, learners make fewer mistakes, start building schema, and transition from external feedback in a closed environment to internal feedback in open environments. On average, this stage can take up to 200 hours of practice.

Autonomous Stage of Learning: This is the expert stage where individuals make few mistakes, have a developed schema, and use internal feedback in open environments while being able to shift focus to tactics. On average, this stage can take up to 10,000 hours of practice.
