Yesterday, Verizon announced a new 5G gateway unit with some great features including better upload speed, better Wi-Fi coverage, and an onboard signal strength meter. They are shipping NOW!

I signed up last week. I got the white box. I cancelled and re signed up to take advantage of the xbox series x promotion. They had me send the white box back and sent me the grey unit. I cant imagine anything changed in those two days and it seems particularly random on which one gets sent out.

I can confirm that they are still shipping the ASK-1338. I have used that router for almost a year now. Mine started to get flaky the last few weeks. I contacted Verizon and they shipped out the same model. They wouldn't this new unit to me. It really doesn't matter though. They both do the same thing.

I just ordered the new unit through Verizon support. I did have to open a new account and cancel the old one to get it.

Hi Disable. Verizon salespeople knocked on my door 25 minutes ago. They said the new hardware just became available TODAY. They were very excited to announce that, as apparently they too have been eagerly awaiting the announcement from Verizon mothership. We are lucky to have a Verizon cell tower TWO blocks from our home, so signal strength should not be an issue. Have not decided yet wether to pull the plug on Xfinity, but on the surface this does sound like a better deal, and a better overall concept for service provider from a technical point of view (as you have observed previously - no physical copper cable.) We want to keep Xfinity TV service, so not sure how the overall $$$ will wash out. Will keep you updated. Thanks for sharing your own experience!

any idea how to do IP passthrough on the new device? I just got it yesterday and now my HUE bridge and nest router will not take...I have tried a multitude of things and tried to reference your last video, but dont have a pc with ethernet ports and my settings look different. Please advise if you have any feedback on how to get bridges to work again! thank you.

Was going to try and order with a new line but Verizon is saying 5G Home internet is not available in my area now yet I have it here and working.
What's the deal with this?

Great video. 5G will get better for all providers now that the FCC gave them the green light to use the new bands - verizon 5G around here has already been steadily improving since the FCC said go. About signal strength, the outside bars are good but as a first cut. The new firmware gives the db of the 4G signal and 5G signal and assists in fine tuning it, but you do have to log into the cube to see it. My 4G is nominally around -92db and 5G is around -110db, not great but well within the usable range.

Ordered this service this morning and am getting the new router. Shows product number equipment# etc in order details as proof. Should arrive tomorrow.

Just ordered 5g plus and they are sending me the old unit. Cancelling and sending back. Im a cell customer, dissappointed i was sent the old unit. Im out

As you mentioned, Verizon likely has a good many old cubes still in inventory, so signing up for another account may in fact lead to the same exact box being sent to your house. It might be better to wait a few months before deploying such a tactic.

I don’t post on here….i got this thing dec 30th and shut off my old WiFi which worked perfectly……..so I bring it home got the red light flashing…..then moved it and finally got 2 bars and I was excited……then after 30 secs of working, it says “ no internet connection “. I brought it back to the Verizon store and as usual the damn thing worked PERFECTLY in the store and I took it home and it does the same thing! Now I don’t have WiFi…..kinda pissed to be honest…. What is going on? What is happening? You sound like you have a good grip on these things and the Verizon people are clueless! I’m done watching Verizon videos of just saying move it around! I NEED REAL HELP ! REAL ANSWERS !

Pretty sure this unit is only c-band. No mmwave support.

They promised me the new gateway when signing up online, received the old ARC-XCI55AX upon pickup...I'm in Chicago west suburb, where is this confirmed to be available for new customers?!
