Crafting story:
Some people really lack reading comprehension ....
He said she is spending MORE money than selling the items for
Therefore she is in fact NOT doing housework and bringing in additional income
She is doing housework (her job that she agreed to do so HE works outside of home) and spending money on her hobby (spending 100 and getting 30 back does not count as income but could be seen as "spend less money than last month")
Now she also wants him to do part of HER job in addition to his job, so she can spend even more money and time and her hobby
If she really is able to make her hobby into a business OP and wife can revisit their arrangement but for now: doing the housework is her job, that she gets paid for by being able to stay at home (excluding summer she should have it easy now with children being school kids) and spending money on her hobby

If you complement a man, he will treasure that one statement for years. At least in my experience. A woman complemented almost 20 years ago, and i still appreciate it.

I can say that I did derp a bit at the end of story 2. Like, yes... childcare *is* a huge contribution. But the reply completely glossed over that the hobby *isn't* contributing, but only detracting. Like an MLM, or spending $100 gambling each week, while arguing that "Yeah, I spent $200 this past month, BUT: I made back $50!"

Second story about crafting has a crazy commenter that clearly thinks the only way for a stay at home spouse to be happy is for the working spouse to do 60% child care and 100% income. The working spouse must be so drained that the stay at home spouse can wrap them around their finger and they can never leave

If she was bringing in extra income from her hobby, she wouldn't be spending more on the hobby than what she earns from it.

If you can afford IVF, you need to afford the child. My mum was a single mum after our stepdad left us, as would go without food sometimes so that my brother and I could eat, and she barely complained, going without sometimes goes hand in hand with being a single parent so if she doesn't want to go without she shouldn't have a child.

Nah, being a stay at home dad was the easiest thing ive ever done. Raising 3 kids was so much easier than any job ive ever done before. Didn't need a break my life was one

Story 1: nta if family helps family ask them where was your sister's help when your baby was born her mistakes aren't your responsibility to fix just because of "family helps family"

You didn’t think about the ramifications of helping her via research etc. You knew she was a piece of work from the beginning. She needs to make the sacrifices ALL parents make at some point in raising kids. But you’re not the jerk! And don’t give her anymore money.
