For the second story, why did a commenter ask why she hasn't moved back with her family in Illinois? Was that person not paying attention? Parents basically kicked OP out with very little notice. I'm guessing she's not turning to them because they wouldn't be any help.

That last story brought me to tears at the end. Having someone that devoted to making sure a child is safe and no one can hurt them anymore is so beautiful.

Poor Phil. When his mother sat next to him at the restaurant, I half expected OP to ask her if she intended to chew Phil's food for him and spit it into his mouth, too.

Final Story - Granddad is a hero. He saved OP from a life of misery from her family and I have no doubt in my mind that he’s watching over OP with love and pride in her.

That Karen in story 3 is way more than a typical helicopter mom; she has completely skipped cutting the umbilical cord

Last story. I hope granddad reported dad to his commanding officers. They don't want the bad PR of having an abusive parent in the Army. Even if they don't kick him out, his career would be ruined. He'd get the crap assignments and no more promotions.

"Why haven't you moved home yet?" Op started the story with being kicked out basicly, they probably can't go home or would basically be in the same position if they did

I love it when teens with toxic, abusive parents can stay with a friend's family. They need a support system where it's lacking at home. Kudos to the families who care and get involved.

Story 1 - I was expecting the Uncle to demand that OP give his console to his cousin or buy him one since they’re family. I didn’t expect that they would actually steal it.

Story 3: If I were OP I would have had her removed from campus for harassment and gotten a No Contact Restrainer Order against her & keeping her away from the entire campus.

Story 4: Welcome to Unintentionally Malicious Compliance. The mom was mad that she went a day without exerting the power that she loved so much, she told OP to basically "Get Out, " OP just left, and that was all it took to eventually bring out the karma for the abuse. Honestly, a big win from OP

God story 3... Phil had to be on his freakin' knees screaming he was free when she was finally gone.

Last story: OH! If only. Having someone like that in my life at that age would have changed everything. So happy for OP.

story 2, why should OP break up with her boyfriend? he didn't do anything wrong and it ain't his fault his mother is a lunatic

Story 3 - Holy Crap that lady sounds like a Nightmare! I feel bad for Phil for being related to her and honestly I don’t blame him for not wanting anything to do with her anymore.

I’d be telling people that my mom was dead and that lady is a psychopath.

"Unspoiled him, " what a nice ending.

Phil’s mother was a control freak. She definitely needs psychiatric treatment.

1st story: Good job on adopting the cousin and fixing them to be a proper person rather than an entitled thief like their ex-father.

Last story. I have heard the story so many times now. I have heard you tell it before, and I have heard others still up before, and I’m always happy to hear it again.
