How to disable the Touchpad in Windows 10

How to disable the touchpad in Windows 10, handy if you are using an external mouse or accidently touch the touchpad when typing.

start menu > type Device manager > look for Human Interface Devices - choose Compliant Touch Pad - find Driver menu - select Disable Device

In your laptop's bottom left screen "Type here to search"; Search: “Touchpad”

Then on the right side of the results: Under “Related settings”, click on “Additional settings” This brings up “Mouse Properties”.
Click on “Advanced”, and click on “Advanced feature settings”
This brings up “Advanced feature settings”
Click on the “Others” tab.
You’ll see “USB mouse connection”. Click on the box beside “Touch Pad is automatically invalidated”
That will stop the touch pad from working.
