How to Convert GPT to MBR During Windows 11 Installation [Tutorial]

The GUID Partition Table (GPT) was introduced as a part of the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI). GPT provides more options than the traditional MBR partitioning method that is common in Windows 11/8/7 PCs. If you have a large-sized Hard Drive, then you could want to convert MBR to GPT. This is because MBR disks support only four partition table entries. If one wants more partitions, then one needs to create a secondary structure known as an extended partition.

GPT and MBR contain partition tables, which are used to define where partitions -- individual divisions of space that can function like separate storage devices -- exist on a disk drive. Most operating systems use MBR, although support is growing for GPT. If you have a computer that has multiple operating systems installed, but one operating system doesn't support GPT partitioning, you can convert GPT to MBR using gdisk, a partition tool used to manipulate the partition tables in Linux. Gdisk can convert a maximum of four partitions, as is the partition maximum for MBR.

So for any hard drive over 2TB, we need to use GPT partition. If you have a disk larger than 2TB size, the rest of the disk space will not be used unless you convert it to GPT. The number of partitions on a GPT disk is not constrained by temporary schemes, such as container partitions as defined by the MBR Extended Boot Record (EBR).

Hold on…
I did it before this option using diskpart
But at the time in the installation of windows
( 2 option )
And selecting the destination disk for install windows
The message appears on the screen saying me
“ can not install windows in a MBR partition disk.
Also need formatting the disk
Before choosing the button “ Next “

Life saver - why in the world doesn't Microsoft make this easier when installing? Option should be available when installing to switch the drive over instead of this unknown way to the vast majority of people to make it happen. Thanks!

I have my System Disk 0 with GPT, my system is already installed since a while and if possible I not want to restart all the things, If I use MBR2GPT to convert the DISK 0, is everything alright ?
