Video Description: Now this is what I've been working on for the past week now, a full fledged Danger Zone video! I made this in the light of the fact that Top Gun Maverick finally came out which lead me to create this video. This is my take on the intro of Top Gun plus some awesome footage of the F-14 Tomcat in action, I hope you enjoy!

Song: Danger Zone + Top Gun Intro

This plane is the equivalent of an old classic muscle car. Never gets old.

Freedom only looks so good so few times. The F14 Tomcat is one of those moments

During my entire Navy career EVERY TIME I sailed in Harm's Way (surface Navy) we had Tomcats overhead on CAP. Teamed with the E-2C Hawkeye we could be certain nothing was getting past them to us.

Later right after 9/11 while all commercial air was grounded here in the U.S. one of my coworkers asked me a question about stopping another attack. I could hear jet engines, looked up and then pointed to the pair of Tomcats flying past and told her "Those are Navy F-14s, ain't nothing getting by them." We were in Chesapeake Virginia, about 20 miles from Naval Air Station Oceana which by then was "homebase" for most of the F-14s not on deployment.

I miss those big, beautiful warbirds.

The Tomcat, even while sitting still, looked like a very dangerous plane. The last of the great U. S. Fighter aircraft.

Gotta tell ya, I was lucky enough to work for Grumman for 36 years before I retired. Worked on lots of aircraft in that time but the Tomcat is still one of my favorites

Ok... that shot at 3:20 where they all fold their wings at the same time, was absolutely slick! What a fantastic shot!

I remember reading in one of my books about the Tomcat that Admiral Connolly was asked if the F-111 would be a good fighter jet and his reply was that "All the thrust in Christendom couldn't make a fighter out of that plane" thus putting the final nail in the coffin for the F-111B and opening the path for the F-14 Tomcat to come to life.

Sitting at my desk in my home in Montana. Missed the Vietnam War by one year. Patton: Americans have never, and will never lose a war. [Unless we decide to try to fight it with unconventional tactics such as letting the other team kick our asses.]
Thank you for this patriotic and all American video. And as always, thank you for your service.

Man, I really wish they'd saved some of these in flying condition. Just seeing these beasts in modern air shows would pump people up like nobody's business!

I swear, every time I see nostalgic footage of the Tomcat with Harold Faltermeyer's intro theme it is tear jerking. What an amazing theme song for an amazing aircraft. :') Well Done.

The f14 was such a damn fine plane it didn't even need thrust vectoring to take out other aircraft in a dogfight while when pushed to the limit it would be able to out manuver a mig 27 and the su 35

For those curious, the TFX(probably mispelled that) program was for the F-111 Aardvark. The Army had priority for most design aspects, so the Fighter was far to heavy for carrier use. And then, by recycling the swing wings, radar, and multiple other parts, the Tomcat was born. The system that allowed to the F-14 to lock multiple targets for its AIM-54 "Pheonix" missiles was intended for the F-111.
