AKG Extends Healthspan & Lifespan | Study Review

This paper looks at a mouse study with alpha ketoglutarate which was run by the Buck Institute in the Lightgow Lab. The study looked at the effects of AKG when fed to middle aged mice in their food. The out comes that they looked for were lifespan and frailty. We are reviewing this paper to provide some background to our upcoming interview with Dr. Lithgow.

That's a very interesting study. I'm a "17-month-old mouse" who is less interested in living to 150 as I am in being healthy up until the last week or two. Really looking forward to this interview!

I suspect Arginine-ketoglutarat (AAKG) would have led to much better results. Those mice here got an overdose of Calcium!

I tried the Kirkman product which is available on Amazon. Not sure if it absorbed properly without the calcium - they say it is just straight AKG. I took 900mg per day for a couple of months. I didn’t notice any changes and decided to drop it. No negative effects for me, though. If the average human eats 3-4 pounds per day of food, 2% would come to about 30 grams of AKG to replicate the mouse dose?

Another weight lifting product that has been linked with anti ageing is beta alanine. Would like to know if you have any views on this. I have been taking a small dose per day for several years now
