Blue Marble Now 50 Years On

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 17 photograph the 'Blue Marble', Living Earth Orchestra presents a reflection on what our space-view means for understanding the changes on the Earth that have been taking place in the last 50 years.
The video includes 3D Animations showing changes in pollution, land use, natural resources and the impacts on polar sea ice.

Since 2015 NASA have a camera-in-space called EPIC, 1 million miles from the Earth which has been taking Blue Marble images every 2-hours.
Today NASA have commissioned EPIC to take images every 15-minutes of the Earth, the Blue Marble now.

I feel that your message is of critical importance; anyone with children should feel this way. My concern is that it is not hard hitting enough. The blue marble still looks like a pretty blue marble from these images. If you have the images of devastation, please show them. You don't have to propaganderise them but you could submit them in a more impactful way. I arrived here through a story on the Sky News app, and others will too. What an opportunity you have. This video by LEO celebrates the iconic Blue Marble image of the whole Earth that was released 50 years ago today. LEO, or Living Earth Orchestra, is a terrific project. Advanced optical science by senior scientists draws on satellite feeds from NASA and other satellites to provide near real-time imaging of the Earth – the whole Earth – not only as a whole but in focused detail. This combination has never been available before. Users will be able to fly over the Earth and zoom in on a geospace to see how they it is today and in the past with different data filters to reveal what matters to them, as illustrated in this video.
But the main purpose of this video is to initiate memory of the iconic image that was released 50 years ago today. A further version is due to be released in a week.
To the cybernetics community, this is an example of information signals from the Earth in more timely variety than ever before available, It will enable better feedback examination of the state of Earth everywhere and determination of what needs to be done.

Satellite constellations are a big issue for On-Earth observatories, they leave lines on photographs, and pollute the sky with excess light blocking some weaker stars. So does smog though. :U

Why do we seek to destroy other human's,
and in doing so destroy Mother Gaia in the process.

I do not under stand it at all,
yet I watch as humans hurt humans and sometimes animals.

It pains me knowing, that I alone am powerless
to stop all the violence that happens around me.

I only hope that one of the future generations of children,
will see and hear the silent cries of Mother Gaia, Mother Earth,
and begin to live with the earth once again.

No point in just blaming “developing” countries for pollution. Think about the damage done just by US and UK, Europe …
Easy to say, stop polluting.
Of course, China is developing fast and will not slow down. Yet they are doing their best to reduce pollution.

Space is a meme created by post war German scientists with backing from Warner Brothers. I know this because my mate was incharge of changing the bulbs on the moon projection unit at Kennedy space center (which was funded by Disney).
