Make sure you carry a 10mm wrench to tighten those bolts on the Boeing jets.

Nice video. i travel every week for work and I always think that, in the event of an emergency, my ultimate goal will be to get home to my wife. So I always carry a small, slim travel road atlas of the entire country with me. If my phone dies, I can navigate home with a good old-fashioned paper map!

Great tips! I carry a butane lighter (like a Bic) which TSA allows. It's great for cutting synthetic cord because it seals the ends against unraveling. Also good for sterilizing a needle before digging out a splinter. A hot needle will also relieve painful pressure from blood under a fingernail after smashing the finger.

Great ideas. A Swiss Army Knife 'Jetsetter' is TSA approved tiny multi-tool that has no blade and would offer you a decent pair of scissors to make that 550 cord much more manageable? Takes up nearly no space at all and also gives you a good pair of tweezers, a small phillips driver and a bottle opener. (A toothpick too, but that's nasty and a firefly ferro rod is a better option in that slot.)

As a seasoned traveller and experienced hiker & camper I see a lot of overlap. I love the Adventure Med Kits but often find that I have to "customize" my kits and suggest people do the same. They're great for base kits, but there are lots of great companies out there that have smaller First Aid Kits (made from Dyneema which is incredibly lightweight, smaller and water proof/resistant). I have a small red one in my EDC at all times w/ bandaids, triple antibiotic ointment, some gauze and assorted tylenol/dramamine/etc. Takes up less room and is just what I need. Make yours custom to your needs. Mine fits perfectly in the day sling I bring on trips w/ the rest of my EDC. Travel Safe!

I have a similar kit. It must makes flying and traveling easier. I carry a Victorixox Jetsetter. No blade but it has scissors. I have not had any trouble with TSA in the US or Europe. I point it out as I go through security. I did find out last month that I couldn't take it to Disneyland.

A small scissors is a good thing to carry & a tsa friendly bottle/can/wine opener. Good stuff!

Well done list, logical explanations. You need more subscribers. You consistently offer solid content without the blathering so common on many preparedness channels. Thanks.

I would add in small field notes (i.e Rite in Rain).. It's always helpful to leave a note to the response team where you heading, how many with you etc., a nail clipper can use to cut things..slow but better than none. Very useful channel 👍

Excellent ideas. I agree everyone has individual tastes and preferences. The mylar blanket is something I keep in my plein air watercolor kit. I may throw it in my travel kit next time I fly. Thanks!❤

Great video. Thanks for sharing your information and experience. There are two cutting tools that "always" fly with me in my under-seat bag. First, in my toiletries bag is a large toenail clipper. When brand new they are very sharp and can cut a number of small items. And it has hygiene uses so has never been questioned. I find it more useful overall than the smaller nail clippers intended for fingernails. The second rides in my first aid kit and that is a pair of trauma shears (aka EMT shears). There are many available from big box stores (as well as "that huge online retailer"). Look for shears that are 5 inches overall (TSA length limit for "tools" is 6 inches). I've never been questioned on those either because the tips are rounded and it is with my first aid supplies. Also, I don't smoke but I always have a small disposable lighter in my bag (like a Mini BIC). It is useful for a number of things (just don't use it on the plane).

I travel almost weekly and carry a small EDC as well. I do carry a very small Swiss Army knife and have never been stopped for it. Always helpful!

Great Video ! I have a "Smoke Hood" for about 15 to 20 minutes of protection, then you have filtered air and can see for the two minutes to get off the plane ! Also may help in a building fire... For a TSA cutting tool use the EMT shears. tjl

Great video! I am always trying to streamline my TSA edc on each trip. I’ve found that having small bills ($1s & 5s) and quarters have been very helpful for vending machines or when credit card machines are down…also, since I usually travel with just a carry-on & backpack and can’t bring any self-defense items, I bring my hydroflask with me to double as hydration AND a means of self-defense.

when i tell my flight is a week away and I didn't know what to bring, thank you so much. I hope the next time you do laundry you find $20 dollars in your pocket. may your pillow always be cold.

In England in managed to carry on a button compass and lighter anything looking sharp and pointy is of course a nono. So any plasters have to be pre cut. Welldone on getting water past security.
Aspirin immodium and paracetamol.

mini EMT shears are allowed and amazing if can't have a knife. I carry a pair of needlenose pliers and a medium slot screwdriver with handle cutoff at 6.5". you can do a ton of things with just those two tools. also one BIC lighter is allowed.

Good video and very interesting, but please note that if you have to evacuate a plane in an emergency you should not stop to collect your luggage. They make that point in the safety brief and on the information card.
