The wreck of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s ship 'Endurance' has been found off the coast of Antarctica more than a century after it sank.

Historian Dan Snow, who is a member of the Endurance22 expedition team, said the discovery was 'like a miracle' and the ship is 'almost perfectly preserved'.

He told Sky News live from Antarctica about the moment the team saw the ship for the first time.

It’s in such pristine condition, amazing to think that it’s well over 100 years since anyone stood upon its deck.

Amazing! It looks like it's in great shape too! The story of Shackleton and his crew is one of the greatest of all time (IMHO).

What an INCREDIBLE find! I read like 7 books on the race to antarctica and was fascinated by Shackleton's expedition. That he lost his ship and was able to lead his crew to be eventually rescued with NO LOSSES equipped with only early 1900 technology and their knowledge (only to have some of them die in the Great War after returning) Has always made me wonder of the quality of leadership of Shackleton and his men. The Endurance looks in spectacular condition!!!
NOTE: There still may be some of Frank Hurley's photographic plates on board as they had to take only the necessities for survival when it was slowly sinking. ..And I agree this will be the pinnacle of shipwreck finds especially in such pristine conditions.

Having read the book "Endurance" I was properly thrilled to see this ship was located, and that she is in the amazing shape she is. The ship, and her crew are a credit to her name.

Ever since I saw the James Caird lifeboat, the greatest lifeboat in history, I've been fascinated by that Antarctica expedition. ENDURANCE by name and the best story of Endurance ever.

One of the most triumphant stories of human survival ever and I'm thrilled the ship is found! Can't wait to hear more.

Shackleton was the person we studied in a leadership model for a masters degree. When things go wrong, having someone like him in charge gives hope to the people working with him, that they will get home to loved ones when it seems that all is lost. It's a shame more people don't learn from his approach to leadership.

“By Endurance we conquer.”

To think of what The Boss and company went and came through AFTER this girl sank. I've got a lump in my throat just seeing those nine letters.

I would love to see the actual reaction upon finding it or laying eyes on it for the first time since it sank!! I bet they were euphoric!!
