What an amazing find! I am very interested in early Arctic and Antarctic exploration and the Shackleton Expedition is such a gripping story.

1916? it looks in pretty good shape. they knew how to build em back then. Shackleton is a great explorer hero. his voyage in a lifeboat from Antarctica to South Georgia is one of the all time greatest feats. a movie starring Kenneth Branagh was made about it. worth a watch.

Wow!! It's so well preserved! I have been fascinated with the story of Shackleton's expedition from the moment I first read about it in National Geographic back in the 90s or 00s. Far less known is the story of the team on the other side of Antarctica responsible for laying in food caches as far inland as they could. That was another incredible story, with a more tragic ending. The Lost Men by Kelly Tyler-Lewis is a great read about the little known "other half" of Shackleton's adventure.

Endurance is hardly notorious. And it didn't sink, it was trapped in the ice and crushed. Shackelton was a great explorer, he lost this ship during an expedition, but not a single man from his crew. Read his book Endurance, or at least a short description of the expedition and the salvation of his crew.

Well for once a ship lived up to its name. I say put some airbags under it float it to the surface an put it in a museum.

Never heard of Shackleton but I'm always fascinated by stories of the deep. Shipwrecks included. Beautiful old ship. Glad to see she's so well preserved.
