Skyrim: 5 Things They Never Told You About Giants

Skyrim is a land filled with majestic creatures and perhaps one of the most mysterious and interesting beings in The Elder Scrolls 5 are the giants. Massive, territorial and slow, giants are of Skyrim's most notable inhabitants. For thousands of years, as long as anyone can remember, these big guys have inhabited the lands of Skyrim and northern Tamriel. However, little is known about these beasts and Skyrim offers next to no insight on their origins and history, leaving quite a lot to be discovered. So today we'll be taking a look at five things you (probably) didn't know about the giants of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

Nate in one video: "Flight magic is basically banned in Skyrim."

I love how Bethesda cut literally every single thing out of the civil war quest line that could have made it interesting.

My dad told me that giants can grow up to 12 feet, but I've only ever seen them with 2.

Giants are one of my favorite races. It always makes me mad when NPCs tell you to go seek them out in their own damn camps. They just out here doin their thing, man. Contemplating life, milking mammoths. Let them live their best life

"Dragonborn kills giant with 2 feet, and so 10 toes." Continues to loot the corpse

I think Giants are responsible for the overwhelming majority of our first deaths in Skyrim way back on 11/11.

I'm pretty sure giants are just how Todd views himself: Powerful enough to launch a person into low orbit on a whim

Atmorans, such as Ysgramor, were large and strong enough to wield what would be two-handed weapons for us, with one hand.
Ysgramor not only has a seemingly large statue, but has a poleaxe (what Skyrim calls a battleaxe) and a large shield.

If we take that sort of scale into consideration, it lends some credence to Giants possibly being some of the first human settlers to come to Skyrim, and perhaps devolved in a sense, loosely akin to what happened to the Falmer.

And yet, giants have pointy ears like the mer.

Are we gonna talk about giant’s relationship to dwemer? You find one or two giants in blackreach. During a thieves guild or Solstheim quest it’s mentioned that dwarves weren’t small, giants called them dwarves back when giants spoke (so they had some kind of relationship). We also find frost giants and these giants are deep in the mountains. Maybe the giants were evolving into these or were originally first giants? Karstaag was also REALLY smart.

7:31 "I'm not necessarily sure what advantages recruiting these giants would've boasted, "
Please. We ALL know why we'd have a Giant follower.

3:46 Is it just me or does some of the decorations that giant have remind anyone of the symbols commonly used of iron doors in nordic ruins?

I'm just here for the way Nate says "The Elder Scrolls Five - Skyrim." Magical.

My theory is that the giants, Myr ancestors or no, simply remember why they fought to begin with and just decided to maintain a distance from man and be generally hostile to them when they come near.
