That's so legendary to remember that and finally fix that mistake

Watching the pitching lineup live was insane

Glad my Cubies could teach Greg how to be a pro and then let him go to Atlanta.

"Four or five years later" he was in the same situation. Stop. Think about that for a minute. That's how long it took for him to be in a 3 and 2 situation like that again. THE GUY WAS A FRIGGING MACHINE.

I could listen to Maddux talk baseball all day.

it was the 11th inning and he started the game. in his prior start he threw a 1-0 complete game 10 inning shutout.

In 2001, he set a National League record by going 72 innings without giving up a walk.👏👏👏

Legend. Privileged to see him pitch in person once.

Even though he never had any no-hitters, he has achieved so much more than any other pitchers. He is truly a legend and will always be my favorite pitcher.

Out of all the legendary pitchers that have played in the MLB, I would choose Greg Maddox career over anyone😊a true master of his craft !

With RISP, off speed is your best friend if you can locate it. Dave Duncan preached this for decades, especially throwing it 1st pitch because a batter is normally anxious to drive in runs. The rotations under Duncan in St.Louis were incredible

This is what made Maddux great. He recognized his mistake, and waited 4 to 5 years for the same situation and corrected his mistake. Also, his memory is fantastic.

Maddox might be the most dominant off speed pitcher ever. He won with pin point control, an amazing change up, and breaking balls.

Randy Johnson and Pedro were overpowering in their time. But I would take Greg Maddox over any other pitcher in the last 50 years. Absolute legend!

He's not relying on anything but his recall memory. He remembers every pitch he threw in his career

That was a pitch that I will never forget because it shaped the way that I call pitches as a coach to this very day. Watching Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz with Don Suttons commentary was like being at MIT for baseball. It shaped my entire coaching philosophy as it pertains to pitchers. I love kids with the velo, but to the disappointment of many, that is not what makes a pitcher. I've lost many of clients because of this and I'm okay with this. Especially when I ask them did they watch the Braves at all? Then their answer is always, they didn't play much or watch much. Unbelievable. A lot of promising futures are ruined because all some people are concerned with is velocity, not learning how to pitch.
