The chess game. The mental aspect behind the game. Its a beautiful thing.

I still love the interview with Maddux when they asked him how he got Barry out: "My job is to get 27 outs. Barry doesn't have to be one of them!"
Best answer I ever heard when discussing how to pitch to Barry Bonds.

2 masters at their craft. So cool to hear them speak on it.

And then Greg Maddux would face Barry Bonds 45 more times and never allow another home run, even as Bonds becomes one of the most fearsome sluggers of all-time. Guess he learned his lesson.

One of the greatest pitchers of all time and the greatest hitter of all time…..we need more of this as baseball fans.

I saw Maddux's entire career, he was such a great pitcher, it seems strange watching him give up a home run

I could watch hours of this. Pedro/Jeter, Ortiz/Rivera, Clemens/Griffey... could do a million different pairings

Best hitter I ever watched with or without the PEDs. .300 hitter with 40 homer power that never struck out and walked 100 times before he ever took a drop. Played in the PED era and nobody else was even close to him despite them using too. Hate if you want

The late 90s was the apex of the NFL, NBA, NHL, WWF, WCW, cinema, etc… a great time to be alive. I miss the good ol days.

The best pitcher of the 90's, and the best position player of the 90's. Mental and Physical battle, thanks MLB.

I’m from SF and have lived in Atlanta for over 45 years, and a huge baseball fan. I remember this at bat like it was yesterday. Thank you for the great post.

Loved that. Baseball is a thinking man’s game.

Watching those two have the exact same commentary was wild. Two of the best at what they did.

Bonds might be the only hitter who was consistently better than pitchers. His on base percentage was above .500 a few seasons.

Love these types of videos! To hear how "on top of their game" these guys were is so cool.
