It was unstoppable except for the guy who saved his house and his neighbors with a garden hose. I've heard that same story over and over again and one man in his 70's in Pacific Palisades did the same thing and mentioned he saw zero firetrucks. I also watched a vlogger who streamed for 9 hours driving up and down Pacific Palisades, yet there were zero firefighters. How many homes could have been saved if they'd only been there with garden hoses. This needs to be a criminal investigation to find out who ordered the fire fighters to let everything burn.

If the elevation is not too high or below sea level, build canals so that seawater can go inland and might help cool down the arid land. It will serve as a gap for fire to spread and an immediate supply of water in case of fire. Anyway, it's not an agricultural land to worry about, isn' t it? It's not necessarily to bore through the mountains, but if it can bore the mountains to reach the desert part, then why not? Or the canals go around the mountains, along the perimeters, etc. You can plant mangroves in salty waters as well when these canals are built. Mangroves forests or linear plantations is almost impossible to burn down thus will stop the spread of fire.These saltwater canals can also add moisture in the air, especially if it is substantially built in California or any arid wasteland like deserts.
