This literally happens every mythological story

Person who got told not to do the thing " does the thing"

Izanami: "I thought you loved me for what was on the inside..."
Izanagi: "That was easier when I didn't have to _see_ your insides."

Greek Mythology: "I'm the weirdest of all mythologies on the world!"
Japanese Mythology: "Hold my sake..."

1. Kills his newborn son.
2. Disrespects the order of life and death.
3. Ditches his wife because she is no longer beautiful.
4. Runs from his problems.
5. Takes a nice refreshing shower.

That image of Izanagi running might be one of the funniest facial expressions I've seen in a long time.

Nice to see Red and Blue drawn in a different style to the one in which they're usually drawn. :)

I love how in the OSP video, Matt just bursts in from out of frame, just another dude, but something about Red and Blue's coloration and the forest setting of EM makes them seem like Fey visitors, tempting Matt to join them.

1. The Peach is a Chinese/Buddhist symbol for knowledge or wisdom. The creatures of the underworld are compelled to eat the virtues/elements of the world. Something about creatures of rot feasting on the living. The grapes and bamboo also have symbolism here too but I don't know them.

2. This is basically the last chronological myth we see Izanagi in. There's no explanation why he's no longer relevant to stories of the sun or moon, just that the collection of myths that got written down stop featuring him.

3. Compare this story with Orpheus and the Underworld or Sodom and Gomorrah. The main story features of each myth, of descending to a place where the protagonist is not meant to be, of seeking a prize but not being allowed to look upon it and looking upon it and having the prize ripped from you, they are all similar enough to imply that there is some older Ur-myth that was popular when the ancestors of these cultures still talked to each other and shared stories. It gives us a peek into what our culture might have been like before agriculture.

Blue looks like Jack Frost in the Extra Credits art style.

Izanami: i'll kill 1000 people a day!
Izanagi: then I'll give live to 1500!

Looking at the modern japan, and their current population, it seems like Izanami is won.

As a Naruto fan, it's REALLY interesting to me that Amaterasu came from his right eye, and Tsukuyomi from his left. :D Thanks for the video!
