The best description of where we are today! Thanks for sharing.

The ominous and terrible thing is that it gives us a hint of where we're headed 😥.

Never argue with a fool, because onlookers won't be able to tell you apart.

“Seed planting” (asking little leading questions) is a technique for getting people out of hate groups, eventually prompting them to have an internal revelation where they recognize their folly.

I think what broke these types of people is when we call them out on their bs. They can’t stand us describing them for who they exactly are. Most of the time, you don’r even know how you got into an argument with them in the first place. I almost made one of my friend who was like this burst into tear one time for calling her out for her character. I learned my lesson the hard way and had refrained from responding to similar situations. People always say to just let these people talk. But I hate that this is the approach. Because the more they talk, the more they believe in their self-delusion and became more confident in their foolishness.

The subtle point here is: stupidity is not a lack of intelligence. It is a thing its own right that causes illogical reasoning. And most frighteningly: none of us knows when we've got it.

Thank you for this. I was brought up by a mother who was heavily influenced by the works of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and although I followed a different spiritual path later in life his writings and teachings still have great resonance in my life. We need people like him now. In the Western world we are descending into a world where stupidity reigns supreme. I have always said that intellect should not be confused with wisdom.

I read Letters from prison when I was 16. It played an important role in my being able to limit the stupid sh?t I’ve done in my life. I have never been completely vulnerable to stupidity, but I have done some pretty stupid things! The most I’ve been able to apply to my daily life from being exposed to Dietrich Bonhoeffer‘a writings has been the strength derived from being able to recognize true love, sincere compassion, actionable understanding, honest empathy and absolute forgiveness.

I’m just sayin..

Saw a comic the other day, a man and a woman at the rear of a parked car, and the man saying, "I don't think this date will work... I can already tell that I don't like you based on your bumper stickers."

It was funny, but also clever, because the angle didn't allow us to see the bumper-stickers, so the single-panel comic wasn't making a statement about any particular socio-political viewpoint, but rather about the bland broadcasting of slogans in lieu of a self-derived opinion.

The problem with stupidity is that it's contagious, and nowadays, massively spreading across the internet. If it were just the occasional person, as in the past, it would be easy to cope with. Thanks for the wisdom in this video.

"The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly." Proverbs 15:14. You can tell who's a wise person, they are always trying to learn. You can tell who's a stupid person, they'll always tell you how much they know.

As a fool myself, I’m so relieved this advice doesn’t apply to me other than as a polite reminder.

It's so important that we use the most amount of discernment when dealing and interacting with people described in this video ... interacting with them may be a regrettable and foolish choice.

As I've aged, I attributed my frustration with the many stupid people I seem to come across on a daily basis with me being an old codger. But the reality is, most of these people really are stupid and always have been. I just realize it more now.

What a great video. Very insightful. I am grinning from ear to ear because I have felt this way for a long time, but I haven't been exposed to Bonhoeffer's words until now. Shame on me, I have been missing out.

I remember years ago reading a book called The Peter Principal. It presents the idea that in any work environment a person is promoted until they reach their level of incompetence. Think about it, each time you are promoted, you get more responsibilities until you come to a point where you can't handle any more, beyond that point, you are incompetent. This means that all the work in the organization is being done by those persons who have not yet reached their level of incompetence.
