The biggest danger in the world today is natural stupidity. So true. Perhaps it has always been so, but social media has made it possible for people to share their stupidity on a mass scale. Thank you for the excellent video.

The stupid are dangerous. The stupid are everywhere. Critical thinking skills are kryptonite to authoritarianism.

I'm in luck. I actively do NOT want to fit in with the crowd.

How do we fight stupidity? I don't think we can. The enemy has too large an army. I've often thought that voting rights should be attached to intelligence, even if I don't qualify. How to do that? I don't know. I guess I'm not smart enough to figure that out.

Interesting discussion; a lot of truth in it. I do not understand why there is a picture of a handsome healthy looking donkey AKA Jackass on the introduction page. Donkeys are NOT stupid. They are smarter, and make better decisions than horses though a bit more slowly. This is because they stop and think before proceeding to take a course of action which may not be in their own best interests. They are not necessarily interested in doing what a human thinks they should do, though with patience and positive re-inforcement they can be persuaded. Equus assinus has suffered a lot of abuse because of people who do not understand them and think they should behave like horses. An inveterate donkey observer.

A wise man once said -" I use emotion for the many and reason for the few !" The comments here are pretty good evidence of why this policy works so well .

J. R. Ewing had a great philosophy on dealing with stupid people. In his own words, "I know how to play the other guy's game".
For me to negotiate with stupid people I have to abandon reason & play inside their reality. I have to figure out their "illogical logic". In most cases their incorrect conclusion is based on an internal need, emotional or ego. If you can supply a substitute source of that need, often using metaphors, you can get them to cooperate. Works every time.

You forget to include laziness. You see the world is being made more lazy everyday. Lazy leads to stupid. People follow the closest narrative that fits their they were told were their feelings....They really don't know what their own feelings are anymore. They don't want to put forth the effort, because effort is tiring and they are too busy being lazy to look at what is really going on. You don't have to turn a crank anymore, now just push the button. There feel better now that you have more time to complain because of the time saved by only pushing the button. If this sounds stupid to you. Don't worry, You're not alone.

These are points that are implied by Bonhoeffer and in the Laws of Stupidity. It is good to point these out to those who missed them. They are real and important.

I grew up in a rural area where independent thinking, decision making and responsibility for actions where valued. An example is in how we voted. You were taught to take the top 5 issues you had and place them in a table. Then add the candidates and research them for their policy positions, historical actions and results from those actions. You used a scale and gave them a score based on the above on how much they would improve the lives of you and those around you. No feelings or rah rah team should influence you. It is fun around election time to be in the small town cafes and see how many people pull their tables out of their pockets. You made most of your decisions this way.

If you could not explain your decisions. It was time to think about what Bonhoeffer said to break out to independent thought.
