This is hilarious! My gf called me and said her CRV brake lights won’t shut off. I quickly YouTube’d the symptom, found your video, and called her back and asked her if she sees little yellowish pieces of broken plastic type stuff... she said YES!
She got home. I fixed it in 2 minutes. And now I look like a hero thanks to you!
Thanks!!!!

Cody, DUDE! You are the bomb 💣! Tic tic! Had no idea my break lights were staying on. Went to start the car and it was dead ☠️ So, I did all the things you’d think of: put fresh battery in the key fob. Took the car battery to the place of purchase. They said it was bad. Got a brand new one for free because the one I brought back was just a year old. Changed it and when I put the tools back in the trunk, noticed the break lights were on. It took me less than 10 minutes to Google your video AND FIX THE PROBLEM! Many thanks, Cody! This one video has helped so many of us. You are building up a lot of good Karma and I hope this makes you feel awesome. It sure makes me feel good to be able to find this info and put it to use quickly and be able to do it myself! I am a 62 year old woman and obviously not scared of a minor auto problem. Thanks again, Cody!

Thankyou very much, I literally saw that plastic just as you described! Temporarily fixed it back in the hole, Will buy the plug tomorrow. You save me from a flat battery and a trip to the mechanics!

Had to take a moment and give you props. This is what Youtube should be all about. I was doing it on a friend's '03 Civic and was worried about access to the brake pedal switch until I realized that removing the fuse panel access door right beneath the steering wheel gave me direct access to the top of the brake pedal and associated switch. Literally fixed it in less than a minute. Bravo for taking the time to post this "How To". On to the timing belt next and then the pesky driver side door tumblers.

0:26 Hey Cody, just wanted to let you know, I’m a single mom on govt assistance driving a 2004 Honda Accord with zero ability afford an expensive fix, a new battery, or much less, a new car anytime soon. When my brake lights suddenly wouldn’t turn off, I felt really frustrated and worried about what that would mean. I started searching the internet for answers and came across your video. Now, my car floorboard isn’t spotless, especially because…kids, lol, but I saw a small piece of blue/black plastic that seemed out of place. I pulled the floor mat back and found a second one, so i figured, maybe this is legit. I managed to pry the plastic cover back from under my dashboard and 3 more pieces fell out, including a rounded, pointy piece like in your video!!! I followed your video exactly and found what I thought was the brake light switch but I wasn’t sure and I couldn’t check to see if they were off while pushing the switch in because I obviously couldn’t let go to hop out of the car and check. So I wedged a ceramic car cup holder insert in between the pedal and switch and then got out to check and THEY WERE OFF!!! you did it! You solved my problem!! And not only that, but it felt really good to figure it out all by myself without being condescended to by a mechanic. Very empowering. I also was doing this alone, in the dark at midnight, with a flashlight, while my child slept. It felt really, really good to do this on my own and tomorrow I can go buy the body plugs and be on my way for FREE. So….thank you. Really and truly, thanks for sharing your knowledge. It meant a lot to me.

Dude, your video was spot on! I was envisioning an annoying costly repair but my issue was EXACTLY as you described including the plastic debris on the floorboard. Found something to jam onto the top of the brake that could depress the switch, and the lights turned off instantly. Like, less than a minute to fix! You rock, man!!! Take a bow!

Perfect solution for my 2006 Honda Pilot issue tonight. Teen came home... "why are you brake lights on, Dad?" Quick search and yours was the first and last video for this issue. SUPER easy fix. stole a body plug from up around the radiator, will replace it in a week or 2. Days after Hurrican Milton and we don't have time or effort to deal with dead car batteries, LOL. THANK YOU! Problem solved. On to checking on the old folks around the corner without power, etcetera.

Perfect diagnosis and the yellowish plug as on the floor. Lit the flashlight on the phone, folded by business card, inserted and all done. Looking the problem up took longer than the fix. Thank you Cody the Car Guy.
