There are over 3,000,000 orphan oil wells in the USA - and nobody seems to know about the damage they are inflicting!

Worked service rigs for a few years, and my rig specifically sealed abandoned wells! Cool to see you talking about this!

As someone who lives in oil country, a lot of these companies dont go "bankrupt" they just use that to stop the expenditures. Next time the boom comes around you will see the same names under new business names.

There's should be a law that forces companies to seal their hole

there are 10, 000 abandoned wells in Texas and Oklahoma alone

A drilling company should be required to deposit enough $ in escrow to seal the hole and remove any rigs or hardware upon completion of any project; this could help ensure drilling companies do not abandon these holes. Thank you for sharing this info because I had no idea. 😮

The oil doesn't always run out. In many cases the well becomes water cut which means the water below the oil can migrate through the permeable formation more quickly than the more viscous oil.
This is whats referred to as coning out due to the water migrating in a cone shaped vortex in the formation.
The big concern are zombie wells. When the welll is stopped being pumped the water will gradually settle down to its level below the oil while the oil migrates back into the well bore. The gas above the oil also migrates towards the wellbore and because of the underbalance begins to push the oil toward the surface causing the well to flow by itself.
This is called a kick. As this process speeds up it turns into a blowout, an uncontrolled release of oil and gas.
I hope this can help you understand how an oil well can come back to life.

I was actually wondering, if there were companies out there. That went around, sealing these old oil drill holes. Thank you, for your great work greatly appreciated.

When I was a kid driving to Odessa, TX, we could always smell when we were close. Now I know why.

This is good work. Glad to see it being done.

Thanks for sealing those oil rig holes. Everyone’s complaining that everything we are doing now is so bad on ecological scale but no one ever talks about what happened in the past and how much it affects what’s going on with the ecosystem today.
Thanks for all your hard work. In my opinion those of you that are doing this work are looking out for us!!!

Thank you for plugging these wells, I've seen numerous wells abandoned off the coast of Sabine Pass Texas, I'm a large vessel captain in the oil fields, Chevron has many off the coast of Port Fourchon Louisiana also.

Work on well abandonments, pump cement to fill the old oil wells up. Weird but cool to see you talk about my field of work because people rarely know about this 👍🏽

"No methane will be escaping this hole ever again."

Some guy in 100 years.: "Yeah, unplug it. We need the methane."
