Most people do not know but passengers can be denied boarding even after having a confirmed airplane ticket. This is because all airlines overbook their flight by 5-20% as per the Civil Aviation Charter. However, if you find yourself in a situation where you are denied ticket due to overbooking, then you have two rights as per the Civil Aviation of Passenger Charter.

First, if airlines are not able to provide an alternative flight in 1 hour, then you will get 10000. Further, if you refuse to take the alternative flight, in that case you can get upto 20000 plus ticket refund. Further, if airlines do not give this money, then in the past Air India has paid 10 lakh compensation on the same.

Over booking allowed hin nhi hona chahiye, if you incur loss on cancellation of the ticket then charge a hefty cancellation fee and increase the ticket price if needed.

Overbooking shouldn't be allowed in the 1st place, even if some passengers didn't show up, it shouldn't be a matter of concern for airlines as they already got paid for those seats. Why try to solve a problem that shouldn't even exist

Not fair 2x of any cheap flight will be more then 10k, this must be increased, since this is a legal loop hole which could be used to make tons of money on any flight costing more then 10k . If they decide to compensate u, u can sue them (only applies if their aren't any other rules then this video)

It would be better if they just let the passengers volunteer to deboard. Some people would rather take the money and don’t mind going few hours late (like tourists). Whereas some people can’t afford to go late even with the compensation (e.g. business travellers)

Ok... My someone... used to work on Softwares for some NOT INDIAN flights... One of those flight he/she worked on software has a movie on it... Basically his/her tickets were not covered by office... so he/she books a short destination flight in foreign... and he/she didn't use to respond when his/her name was called... For example one booked Mumbai to Pune... and he/she knew exact seating capacity... he/she waited to flight to fill... now as he/she goes the flight is full... also he/she is checked in... but as there were like no mumbai to pune flights... he/she agree to wait for one hour and go to Baroda... and he/she needed to go to baroda... and also for same fare... (I DON'T KNOW THIS WORKS IN INDIA BUT IT WORKS IN ONE/TWO FOREIGN COUNTRIES I KNOW)...
