Orthodox Christians across Russia immersed themselves in frigid water to celebrate the feast day of the Epiphany.

Epiphany commemorate the baptism of Jesus Christ in the River Jordan.

Worshipers imitate the ritual by entering the water through holes cut through the ice and dunking themselves three times.

It’s below -50℃ in the Far East of Russia where the ritual could be life-threatening.

Priests bless the water and watch the ritual.

Russian President Putin also has been taking an icy dip in the previous celebrations.
