The “expert” with the swords was actually mixing the elements up on the X-Ray spectrometer. Mn is manganese, NOT magnesium. And manganese often occurs naturally with iron ores around the world. Either it was unintentionally added by the Romans, or it was made with a steel from the late 1700s on. This method alone is not a very accurate way to judge the authenticity of ancient ferrous metals. Works great with precious metals though.

For the kid who has the two coins from his aunt's attic, is she still alive?? David is SO respectful of people's items. Love him, and he is so knowledgeable!

@09:00 the expert is making an error. he's reading the element symbol incorrectly. MN is the symbol for manganese, not magnesium. Magnesium is MG

The first "man" offering the Caesar coin for sale must be so embarrassed every time this clip is broadcast. 😂😂😂
