Is The Raw Diet Too High In Protein?

Kidney and liver failure are two of the main concerns some veterinarians and owners have when being confronted with the raw diet. Why is this? Is this something you should be worried about too?

*******Something I failed to mention in this video is that these protein percentages are on an AS FED basis. Meaning this raw meal is around 18% protein when fed raw, but if it was analyzed on a dry matter basis (as kibble is, since it's dried) the protein of course would be much higher because all of the moisture is removed. Just wanted to make that clear!

Ahh you know exactly what raw feeders have to go through so well, I have been questioned by a couple of people on this question so far. Now I know what to reply to them. Thanks as usual X.

This is so interesting, i dont like how veterinarians use “fear mongering” i know they mean well but bro stop. Everything is dangerous when done wrong. I wanna study more about vet nutrition when im in uni 😍

I have been told that im reversing the years of domestication by feeding raw and that when it was normal to feed raw, animals were dying at an alarming rate. Its really sad how so many people are against educating themselves, much less trying it 😓

My old vet tried telling me that I'm feeding a 100% protein diet🙈 sure, its a 100% protien "source" diet.. But, there's allot more to meat then JUST protein... Just read the protein % on a pack of meat. Clearly not JUST protein

I started getting more interested in my dogs diet three days ago. And yesterday I Found this channel!! I have learned a lot and today decided to add some raw chicken to my dog's bowl of food. I have to say he loved it!! My dog isn't really into eating dog food, in general he is a picky eater. When he finished eating he was so happy barking playing with the mat. From now on I'll try to add as much raw food as possible. I'll still have to give him kiddle tho since I live with my parents and ain't no way in hell they gonna agree with him having a full raw diet. Anyways thank you so much!!

Btw is there any recommendations for my dog? He is a mixed Maltese, idk weight, small dog age close 9.

I actually found a raw diet kibble! The brand name is nature’s variety instinct the raw brand and it’s a pure raw diet kibble with no extra ingredients! And they have it for dogs and cats!

(Beef version) The ingredients for dogs are: beef, beef liver, pumpkin seeds, beef spleen, carrots, apples, butternut squash, ground flaxseed, dried kelp, broccoli, apple cider vinegar, salmon oil, rosemary extract, blueberries, and dried chicory root. The use monomorillonite clay for shape, mixed tocopherols as a preservative, and freeze dry it.

(Rabbit version)For cats the ingredients are: rabbit (including ground rabbit bone), pork, pork liver, pumpkin seeds, carrots, apples, butternut squash, rabbit liver, rabbit kidney, rabbit lung, dried kelp, broccoli, apple cider vinegar, salmon oil, rosemary extract, blueberries, and dried chicory root. The use monomorillonite clay for shape, mixed tocopherols as a preservative, and freeze dry it.

And they have plenty of flavors too like beef, rabbit, pork, fish, etc…
The point is I think you should definitely try this new stuff because it is amazing!

The price for a small bag is about 15 dollars and the price for a large bag is about 30 dollars.

My dog has early kidney disease. If I add too much protein to her diet it does end up in her urine.

Hi, thanks for a great video! I have a question. My dog likes it frozen. But I worry about his teeth. Is it safe to feed a dog frozen raw every day?

Don’t they mean on a dry matter basis? So protein percentage of everything NOT including water?

Everyone keeps being scared of the raw diet. I honestly have no idea why besides a few ideas.
1: being it's raw meat and can get people sick..
But at the same time, we always cook meat and always handle raw meat, so why not the same with are pets?
2: unbalanced
This is true if you didn't do enough research first or don't add important nutrients like vitamin D and E and iodine and more.
3: vets are against the diet
When you go to a professional, you want advice but when the same expert says that they are against the diet and goes against your opinions and evidence, it can make us upset. But when unknowing owners ask and the vet says the same thing, it can scare the owner.

My female yorkie was 2 1/2 years old when she went for blood work and she as been on premade raw diet sense she was 8 weeks and the vet told me her protein was to high and my male yorkie blood work was normal! The vet is not holistic so maybe to him it was high 🤔 they eat beef, pork, lamb, chicken, Turkey, duck and venison, sardines once in awhile also homemade Kefir, raw honey homemade broth one a week!
Every 2 days I switch their food they are ok with that 😊
