How To Clean Your Sofa / Couch With Oxi Clean

Hi Everyone! It's been a while since my last video! I hope your holidays went great :) ! We had a blast with the family :D ! Today I'm sharing how I cleaned my microfiber couch and sofa. You can clean any other upholstery with oxi clean this way as well.

I followed these instructions using oxygen bleach powder and got fantastic results on my old, inherited, microfiber couch. I really appreciate this video and particularly the note that you need to evenly wet a full section of the couch so that it dries to an even color. I didn’t know that and every time I tried cleaning my couch it would look worse and worse.

I don’t have a wet vac so based on other comments I cleaned off the bleach solution using damp towels after scrubbing, just wiping the upholstery down and rinsing the towel in a bucket over and over until it stopped foaming. I left it to dry overnight and vacuumed a bit of residue with my regular vacuum cleaner in the morning. I’m thrilled that I finally know how to clean this couch!

Same here! 😂 I saw Oxi Clean and figured “ ah! Simple” and as I began to watch not only did she get a mini vac but all the scrubbing just for one arm of the couch! I was exhausted already ! No thanks. I’ll keep searching

Pro tip: use a stiff brush to dry scrub followed by a good vacuum before cleaning.

OH MY GOD THANK YOU!! Seriously. I have a microfiber foot stool that sat with exactly EXACTLY the dirty water marks that the arm of your couch had all over the entire surface. We had an adorable bichon/shih tzu mix who was an incessant licker and destroyed the fabric... OR SO I THOUGHT. I keep shouting but it has seriously been a mission of mine to clean it and nothing I tried ever worked, and actually made it worse. SO, I stumbled across your video here on YouTube, had the time to try it thanks to COVID-19, and it WORKED. And I have no problem with your product placement because the OxiClean did the impossible and the Bissell Little Green was worth every penny. (Far cheaper than replacing the couch, which was our only option left.) Thank you again!!

Thank you very much! This tutorial makes all the sense, and I can't believe I just got exactly the same used couch and loveseat set. I've cleaned couches this way before with excellent results like yours. But with the couch I have now, being microfiber, I was doubtful about the method because there are so many people out there talking about how complicated it's to clean microfiber, apparently it's simple. The wet vac is the best way to clean when you can't remove the upholstery to put it in the washing machine.

The best cleaner for the micro fiber couch is simple Windex and a clean cloth. Comes out quickly and so clean

On another note, that's why my family decided to get leather sofas instead. It's far easier to maintain, easier to clean up spills and it doesn't smell, especially since we make exotic food. We don't have worry about steam cleaning or getting it professionally cleaned every year. We've had the same sofas for 8 years and they're still in great condition. Every now and then, we'll use leather wipes, to keep it in top condition. All our sitting furniture, including the dining chairs, other chairs, ottomans, entry bench and even all bed frames are made of dark leather, along with our car seats, for the same reason. Leather may cost more than fabric, but maintaing it costs far less in the long run and it can last much longer.
