I agree, I just roll them with the hook facing away from the roll, so it just rolls out easier, if that makes sense😂

I put my ratchets on the passenger.
That way if I have to pull over for some reason I won’t be standing in the highway.

You're close. Roll it backwards though. Same way with the hook being in your hand. Only difference is the hook is facing down and not up. It'll stop any twists from chucking it over.

The rub rail is there so your straps will be protected in case you get the trailer to close to something so it doesn't cut your straps loose

And NEVER EVER put your straps on the OUTSIDE of the rub rail. The rail is supposed to PROTECT the straps.

If u have the hook facing out u can throw the roll on the top of the load where it can roll across and fall off the other side

Also, in the US, strap from the driver's side to the passenger side so if you have to adjust your load on a road side, you aren't on traffics side to get plowed.

Better way to do it is with the hook out, so when you throw it over it well roll over the top and not get stuck as easy.

Most DOT officials will write you up for having those straps on the outside of the rub rails… Should be on the inside of the rub rail…
