The term "buffalo" solider was supposed to be an insult, due to the hair texture of the buffalo. But the true instinct of the animal; the buffalo is that of bravery. During a storm most animals run away but not a buffalo, it wil stand firm and head towards the direction of the storm. A notion that these brave soilders embodied, in face of the storm of adversity, racism and extreme climate.... honor🎖 to these brave men.

In 1899 in Philippines buffalo soldiers hero is David Fagen, native of Florida. He trained Filipino’s how to shoot, read and write English.

The 54th Massachusetts charged across a mile of open beach. Under withering fire from a heavily entrenched position. At one point they broke through before being driven back by the Confederates. Their bravery and their military elan was noted on both sides of the conflict. They earned respect and a place in America, that can never be challenged or taken away... hurrah 54th.
