I think this whole sequence on night 4 or SL had missed potential for a “springlock jumpscare” which ends your night if you don’t wind the springlocks up. While this does end your night, you just get a minireena jumpscare regardless of whether they actually killed you or if the springlocks went off.

i always interpreted "Not the way it was MEANT to be used" to mean "it was meant to entertain kids, it was used to kill kids", similar to Spring Bonnie.

not saying it IS spring bonnie, but maybe it's another suit Afton used to commit murders in.

Honestly I think it’s just a blank suit, possibly a spare Funtime suit that went unused, maybe a prototype for Funtime Chica.

Theory: This is going to sound a bit crazy but hear me out. When Circus Baby says "At least not the way it was meant to be used" She could be referring to the Funtimes themselves since we know they were given a false use since they were actually used to distract/harm children instead of entertain them. If we go by the most accepted timeline that Elizabeth dies before the Crying Child's death (still debated about but we'll go with it for now) for Circus baby/Elizabeth to know about Springlock suits she would have either had to have heard it being mentioned at her old pizzaria or a springlock incident to happen earlier. It couldn't have happened at CBPW or in the underground facility because William has the animatronics to be able to distract/harm children for him, giving him an alibi and CBPW closes on it's opening day due to 'gas leaks' (obviously a lie.) No childen are ever mention going into the underground facility (yes they are rented out for 'private parties during day' as handunit says but why would there be a springlock suit there?) William is Springtrap at that point and the only people that go down there are cleaners, Micheal, and technicians.

This is the part that you might think I'm crazy at but what if Elizabeth was killed on purpose? And by extension, Micheal and The Crying Child? I think it was Matpat who pointed out that the Bite force on Fredbear was way too heavy for it be normal - I think he said it was equal or bigger than a crocodile? Elizabeth is (presumably) around 5 years old and since we constantly see her ask her dad if she can go see CB despite him saying no, she isn't going to be quiet about someone bleeding out on the floor?

William says no because ultimately, he's a manipulator, and he knows that she will go see her anyways and she does - resulting in her death. He shuts the CBWP down, blaming it on gas leaks (and ultimately giving him an alibi as to what he was doing if Elizabeth was ever reported missing) and leaving Elizabeth trapped so that she can't tell anyone the truth. If Springlock suits were deemed dangerous, they wouldn't have been used in 1983 but they were used. Then the crying child suspects him (either he saw Elizabeth get killed or when he was trapped in the backroom by micheal there was a dead child in the suit since the top looks like a tuft of hair) and so, William ignores his pleas for help against Micheal bullying him and so, Crying Child dies, giving William another alibi because Micheal is the reason he's dead and not William.

Obviously Micheal later finds out that William's a serial killer and we know what happens next. It's William's company, he would know about the animatronics trying to escape. Baby knows by Night 4 that it's Micheal who's down there, not William, which is why William sends him; He knows what their going to do. Kinda a coincidence all his children get killed more or less by animatronics that HE made? Maybe that's what Micheal means when he says he found 'it'. He found out the truth about why Elizabeth and The Crying Child are dead.

I honestly never thought of the suit from SL that much. I figured it was just a plot device purposely put by Scott or something. 😅

But Ballora is a plausible case, though.

I think a prototype Chica would work better than Ballora. Ballora seems to have been designed with the Circus Baby theme in mind. We know Chica and Foxy were established characters even when Fredbear’s Family Diner was open, so it’s possible they were simply making the characters one by one as we have a spring Bonnie as opposed to just Fredbear, so it would make sense to have the whole gang. As for the design of the face plates, it was probably just designed as an easier way of putting the suit on (or maybe that was Afton’s reasoning he tells people while the truth is it’s actually to make it harder for a potential victim to escape).

This is backed up by the fact the mouth is the exact same shape as a beakless Toy Chica, and the beak would presumably have to be removed in order to open the face plates. This could also explain why Toy Chica can remove her beak in FNaF 2, repurposing the prototype design to some extent. Or maybe it’s simply easier to do maintenance on the endoskeleton’s jaw if they only need to remove the beak instead of the entire head. The presumably plastic design of the suit could also explain the decision to use plastic animatronic cases for the Toy animatronics.

We never ended up seeing it used in any location because the idea of a spring Chica could’ve been scrapped after Fredbear had a crying child steak dinner. This would also explain the absence of a spring Foxy as the springlock suits would be retired, therefore there would be literally no reason to design a spring Foxy (unless of course the Toy Foxy pieces found in the Afton house were the beginning of a prototype spring Foxy, but that seems unlikely).

And finally, for the not used in a way it was intended for, that could simply be Afton’s plan to use it to kill someone by trapping them inside. If you could easily get out, night 4 of Sister Location would be dead easy. And as for Baby/Elizabeth knowing her dad was a killer, perhaps she knows about the Funtimes’ lethal design choices. It’d make sense if this supposed spring Chica prototype was repurposed as the basis for the Funtimes. Afton used the suits initially as a disguise to murder, then he realised how lethal it can be to wear an animatronic.

Before you showed the voice clip of Baby saying it came from her place, I was thinking it could be Ella like in the FNAF movie. It could be her, or a springlock prototype of Baby before Afton perfected the Funtimes. Now, I’m sure people are gonna say “But she’s so big, there’s plenty of room inside”, that wouldn’t be the case. Springlock animatronic suits are roughly the same size and general shape of a person. So Proto-SpringBaby would be a lot smaller than the eventual Funtime Circus Baby. But she’d serve a similar purpose. Trap and kill people.

I think your right on the last part about Ballora maybe she was a Prototype and that’s why when your doing the spring locks a lot of her little dancers we’re trying to make sure that you don’t fix the spring locks so that way that person or mike won’t escape so he can be the next Ballora or like you said a women can be stuffed inside that suit so she can be the next Ballora instead of the original Ballora being in her stage.

I think it’s from fall fest before fredbears somewhere in the 70s which they used as suits to interact with the kids at the circus which makes sense because her name is circus baby so I might be a older version / ptototype

You're right, maybe it's a springlock ballora possibly intended for Afton's wife, since Ballora's design is based off of Afton's wife, maybe when Fredbear's was new, they wanted a springlock for his wife, however she refused to wear it, so he put it away? But hey, that's just a theory... A Twisted Animatronic theory!

Two things I think you should look into is the Chicas party world place that we get hints to in the games and that the suit was possibly from there. The second thing is the fact that C.B is possessed by both Elizabeth and Charlie. Within sister location it is Charlie in control. Proved with the words “you are looking for Her” and had to brake C.B to escape then leaving Elizabeth in control of scrap baby. But how could this be possible? Because c.b is actually Charlie. Henry made the design but William stole it and changed it as what happens in the books. C.b is the games version of Eleanor. And Scott left a little detail in the extras menu of sister location. That C.B was going to have brown hair. Like Charlie. This is my thought and I would like to know what you think and hope this helps for future theories

I feel like we have clues from the newer games.
To me the spring lock suit is easily the costume we saw where the mimic was hiding underground. The lady penguin! The face looks like her face!
It’s obviously not the lion or the elephant, but all those costumes are easily circus or zoo themed. Baby could have been part of either of those themed pizzerias. My guess is it was a competitor’s pizzeria that Freddy Fazbear’s bought out. That’s why the spring lock is similar but different, even though it’s old. He could have liked the different design and incorporated it into the sister location animatronics.

There is the possibility that it's a prototype springlock skeleton, with no outer shell or cosmetics. juggling my the leather on the interior, it was probably meat to wear something much heaver than the older springlock suits.
