Sugarcane is a traditional food over here in Bangladesh. Back when our grandfathers were young, they obviously didn't have cars or bikes to travel around. They had to walk. To pass their time more quickly, they used to chew on sugarcane to keep their hydration without wasting much water and it also fulfilled their boredom. Such a crazy history.
Edit: Some people nowadays still like to drink sugarcane juice on a daily basis over here. Also some people like to buy a whole sugarcane log and chew on it while they come home from office or some other boring work. Though it's mostly on the rural areas.

If you have diabetes you can drink this because this is unrefined sugar and it's not wrecking your blood sugar levels like added sugar would. Besides, assuming you don't yet need insulin or have a steady supply of it, depriving yourself of sweets completely is completely unnecessary, and makes some people much more likely to have cravings.

Yeah, with lime and ginger, as we do here in Brazil, we also add a lot of ice. With pastel it is incridible good!

SugarCane Juice is common in Panjab(Pakistan), Panjab(India), also in other parts of Pakistan, India and in Bangladesh, too.

Moreover, Before Refined Sugar also known as Khand in Panjabi and Sindhi OR Cheeni in Urdu/Hindi. Gurr & Shakkar were common in Panjab, They are still produced here from Sugarcane.

I remember the days as a kid when my dad would sometimes bring home sugar cane and let me and my siblings suck out the juice. I miss those days man! God bless!❤

In Colombia we call this Guarapo, it's a traditional drink popular in warmer areas of the country, most people drink it as it is but you can mix it with fruits and herbs, my favorite is a mix of green apple, pineapple, cuecummber and and herb called "hierbabuena"
