My rule of thumb, conceal carry in populated areas, open carry in rural areas when nobody is around, I see no reason to conceal carry when walking in the woods, or just around the house. In stores and areas with lots of people, I do not care what anyone thinks at all, but I do value the element of surprise. Just my thoughts.

Concealed carry is the best way to go. You have the element of surprise and no one suspects you are packing heat. Good video.

Concealed carry is preferred for all of the reasons Massad mentions. I open carry as either a temporary convenience while transitioning, (changing outer garments, etc.) or I'm in a gun-friendly environment. However, If I'm going to walk around open carrying, I ALWAYS use a double-retention holster! I also have trained on retention strategies.

Some good points here, I have done both and had no issues but could see the potential issues however everything starts with knowing your surroundings and being aware

In Wisconsin you can open carry without a permit. I personally don't open carry unless I'm walking my dogs at night in a very rural area. Some recent cougar attacks around me. They took down a couple cows and a horse in my area. Changed my mind on open carry.

I prefer to open carry. I can pull way faster when it’s on my hip. It’s common in NC, Every other person does it. I guess it depends on where you live? People here open carry to the grocery store. Small town. I probably would conceal it if I was in a big city

I CC, OC, up side down C, inside out C . I just say carry as long as you are legal . I do see your points . I mainly use an outside waist band holster . Saying that . I tend to have a cover on . Like a jacket or over sized shirt . Great points and video as well .

Very good points, one thing I didn't catch you cover is cons of concealed carry if their are any. I imagine getting pulled over could cause issues if not handled delicately to let the officer know you are a permit holder who is carrying.

I like Massad. I think most of his points in his video of concealed vs open are mostly speculative.
We don’t have many if any cases of people falsely accusing someone who open carry’s.
People who chose to commit mass murders usually choose areas where people are not armed or where they don’t believe people to be armed.
The element of surprise is a moot point. I can be sitting down while carrying openly and still possess the element of surprise.
Etc.
If we had a culture of people open carrying many of the points in the video would be a nonstarter. Pushing more people to concealed carry ultimates allows for the points made in the video to even be speculated. I’m fine with concealed carry, but more people should open carry. It changes the culture. I’m my opinion it is because so few people openly carry that now when someone IS openly carrying it creates a shock on those around him/her.

Open Carry and Concealed is determined by where you live and if you want to exercise your gun Rights or your gun privileges. If you have to get a state mandated license to carry a weapon then you dont have gun Rights and the way you carry is determined by your State masters. If you live in one of the last few States that has not removed the 2nd Amendment from the Bill of Rights then they way you carry depends on where you are going and what you plan on doing while there. In Texas the only way to exercise your 2nd Amendment Right of self protection is to open carry a rifle or a pre 1890 black powder revolver. If you want to carry concealed then you must beg your State masters for permission to put a pistol under your shirt. The difference between open carry and concealed carry in Texas is based on whether our not you want to exercise Rights or just privileges.

Mas Ayoob is one of the greats!  I have a vid tomorrow about a guy open carrying and of course he is detained by cops....i just prefer to CC as I want to blend in and have the element of surprise.  There are many reasons I CC over OC.  But there are so many people I am now meeting in our state that OC now and WANT attention.  They state this is an awareness issue and they want to show the public that carrying a gun as a private citizen is legal and nothing to be scared about.  I want to say some of these people that OC look as if they live on the streets!  LOL.  But thanks for brining this up, good stuff

The only time I can see myself open carrying is if I lived in Texas, because well.... it's Texas lol

Innocent until proven guilty. You would not have to prove that you never took your gun out. The state would have to prove that you did.
