Europe needs to cooperate with Chinese factories more than ever, as their energy bill will soon shoot through the roof.

For now Europe is one of China's largest markets but not for long. China is quitely developing internal domestic consumer market in China so that its economy is consumer driven rather than export dependent. It is also quietly developing alternative markets in the Asean, central asia, latin America, middle East and Africa and Latin America markets the goal being to reduce the percentage of trade with Europe and the USA. It knows that it is the next target of Russia-like sanctions because Europe and the US view China as a threat rather than a competitor.

I cant believe how myopic this analyst is. Saying that China needs Europe more than the opposite bcos of the amt of business done is very shallow indeed. In fact its the other way round. If EU reduce their supply from China where are their alternatives? EU is twice more dependent on China compared to what China wants from EU. Then the question is why is China buying only half the value of its exports from EU? Doesn't it dawn on you that China doesn't need much from EU and so not dependent on EU? Can China afford to reduce its EU markets, definitely yes as it have 140 countries in BRI to tap into.

It is amazing that people like him chooses bragging rights to diplomacy. Yes, China exports more to Europe than importing from it. But that is because China is capable of manufacturing things cheaper, and faster. Europe is happy to suck up the Chinese goods because they are price competitive.

But China doesn't just export finished goods, it also exports components to EU. It is the same in USA. Trump in his MAGA dream, imposed tariffs on many products such as pumps which are essential for American end products. Realizing that it is actually hurting America, Biden now abandoned tariffs on them. Chinese products actually have a deflationary effects on America market. I guess it would have similar effects to the EU. So a bit of humility doesn't hurt, Mr. Wuttke.
