As a retired turbine engine mechanic I must say I still get excited when I hear one starting up.
It's all in the sound.

Such a cool aircraft and the Porter along with the Otter and Beaver did a lot
to open up many remote places in the world.

one of the most glorious sounds I've ever heard is a PC-6 startup. one of the most impressive sights is a PC diving to and straightening for a runway landing at 200ft . Irish Parachute Club, Edenderry, Eire

Beautiful paint scheme.
I didn't know you could get a backup
Needs one of those backup alarms they put on commercial trucks. BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

It almost literally just hopped off the ground. It flies so softly. I've never seen a plane like that

Nice helicopter you got there lol And the backing up.. now that's a fancy trick. I wonder if there's any mirror or way to look behind you for the pilot. He did it with such confidence.

My uncle told me the reason for the long nose was because the engine was so light compared to a combustion engine it had to be moved further forward to get the correct cg for the wing.. It also allowed a better usable range of the cg for loading of goods and moving things around.. I actually always wondered why it had such a disproportionately long nose, well I guess I know now lol...

That long powerback though. One way to show off you have a turboprop. I always used to think they were just jets that wanted to be prop planes but to be fair I've developed a new obsession with that PT6. Just astounds me how they packed that much power into such a compact unit. I wanted to see what would happen if they stuffed one on a train...turns out they already did that and it's a story of it's own. I am also amazed at how consistent sounding the PT6 is when it starts. They all sound identical.

She's a beauty. Planes were never allowed to park in the city because they couldn't back up. This beauty changes everything LOL...Frank

What heck kind of take-off was that? What do you call that kind of taking take-off? "The invisible parking space catapult"?
Wow!
