27 million under flood alerts across California

Today, Santa Cruz county issued emergency evacuations, tweeting for Felton Grove residents to, “please leave now” as the San Lorenzo River began to quickly rise. In Salinas, people are collecting sandbags to protect their homes days after roads washed out and levees broke. Other parts of the state like Sacramento are facing prolonged power outages. Though recent floods caused a 35% drought reduction, one scientist says it’s still not enough.

It’s not as bad as the video makes it seem. The vast majority of the state is doing just fine and needed the rain.

We’re just north of Sacramento, lost a piece of our fence, had a pool in our backyard. But, no complaints, we’re happy for the rain and staying inside. 🙏🏻☔️🥰

lol the state telling people to "prepare" while none of the levees in the state have been maintained in the last 40 years and are now in danger of washing out...we paid taxes for that infrastructure to be ready WTF happened?

I've been surfing the Sacramento River for 20 years now and never caught the kind of waves I'm catching during these big storms. Kowabunga !

I'm going to visit California next year just because I know the lakes will be full of water. Hopefully by this summer it'll look the best in years

What will get us out of the drought, less people. 27 million on alert in California?! That’s a little more than half the population of the state! So over 40 million in just one state? Please no more, legal, illegal, whatever. High rents & housing, lack of clean water, electricity, using to much gas, clean air & pollution problems. Along with crime, bad schools, traffic, etc. Clean it up, reduce over crowding & mass illegal immigration. Enough is enough, beautiful state going down the population tube.

I’m in LA the intersection near me floods as I think there’s only 1 drainage so I have to walk a block upwards after getting off the bus to cross over then walk back down to the apartment building I live in. Fortunately for me I grew up in Hawaii were we’ve learn how to prepare and deal for storms.

I lived there in the 70's and remember a couple of years where it was blazing hot in summer into the 120's then flooding rains in winter followed be heavy snow in the San Bernadino mountains.

So most of Ca is flooding, but we are still in a drought? Is their a logical reason why its so hard to understand a flood

If only there was a cheap way to store all this excess water so we could use it later in the year.
