Turn the ignition key to ON position, the car will start and run. Ignition key to OFF position, the car will crank but not run. Important to know!

Another alternative is to use an early Ford starter solenoid which has a push button. It can be mounted under the hood and wired to the starter. Look at a Standard Motor Products SS-558. It is a 6 volt unit and keep in mind that 6V batteries have higher amperage than a 12V. Just push the button, it will not start the engine unless the ignition is turned on. Probably costs as much as a remote push button switch

If you have an old light switch "off/on" you can wire it up the same way as a push button starter. I made the same thing and it cost me $0.00.
