Make sure you click the THANKS button under the video screen if this video helped you or "saved your life." No matter what monetized channel it is!

You can buy one of these handy mechanic remote starter switch is a pretty much any auto parts store. Not very expensive. Very easy to install. Then just turn the key on for your vehicle, and you can then spin the engine over with the remote. That way you don't have to have a helper to turn the engine over while you're investigating things in the engine compartment.

Just don't forget to turn the ignition key back off when you're done. Otherwise the key will stay on and you'll probably kill your battery or something else.

This was my truck. See the playlist link at the end of the video for many other tips and projects relating to this truck. AND note that this truck died on my 100 miles from home. And never ran again. (AFTER I put a ton of money and effort into it with anything and everthing.) Yep, I tried that too. Sold the truck for $3400 and glad of it.

I’m a 61 yr old widow and I’ve had to learn via YouTube how to work on my husbands 95 Chevy K1500 5.7L. I just rebuilt the TBI and thanks to your video I can now use the Lisle Remote Starter Switch to start the truck and observe the engine by myself. Thanks again for taking the time to post the video.

Great video Sir.. Waking up my 68 Pontiac from a 30 yr sleep and Brought a ACTRON remote switch. Looks almost identical to yours. Hope the wires are long enough as the starter is on the left side of the Block..

On my old Ford, the solenoid is right behind the battery with the S terminal visible, but on Chevy, I'd have to run a permanent jumper wire from that terminal up to the firewall some place. Easy to reach and clip to then.✌

As someone who wants to tinker and learn about engines and very unexperienced thanks a ton for teaching me a basic yet helpful skill!

my van has a connector, so it is not so easy to connect to it, it's the same terminal that the dash switch is connected to, I suppose that I would need to remove the connector and go direct to the solinoid. Is that correct? this is a new starter motor so I don't want to do something wrong and burn it out. The old starter burned out and I believe it is because I had used a puncture pin into the wire at the time, so I'm not taking any chances with this new one; but it would be nice if I could use my new remote switch.

If your starter is good, then this should start your vehicle right? I'm thinking my ignition switch is out.

Will this trip security systems on newer vehicles? Somehow I imagine bypassing the ignition would make the ECU freak out lol
