Repair and Fix Hard Drive and Disk Errors

Your video appeared as if by magic, on my YouTube home page. I have been struggling for about a month, to overcome my windows 7 computer, constantly freezing and crashing. I followed your instructions to carry out a check of my hard drive and the check took two and a half hours to complete. I noted a message, quite early on, telling me that there was a bundle of bad files and windows had repaired them. I am happy to say, that my desktop is now running like new again :)

Be aware that if it finds and repairs errors that all problems are not forever gone.

In my experience in time errors appear again on the same drive. It can take a while before that happens, but it will happen. Therefore, if not done already: backup important files on that drive as soon as you can on another drive and consider replacing the drive for a new one. By the time you encounter messages that you have to format your drive, or the drive has becoming RAW, or even has a CRC error it can be too late to salvage the contents.

Remember that a drive is easier to replace than non backed up data on it.

For future reference I have WIN7ULTX64 and it took about three hours to do. It fixed my Disc Error. Thank you!

Thank you. The log says that CHKDSK discovered free space marked as allocated in the master file table (MFT) and the volume bitmap. Also stating that Windows has made corrections to the file system.
What's the message that states that there are bad sectors in your harddrive?

I've fixed this problem just right click the drive you will choose then > properties > tools > Check now > automatically fix file system errors > start . You're welcome :)

My external HDD kept asking to be formatted every time i plugged it in my PC and and sometimes it wouldn't be recognized through other laptops i looked for anything that could help so i tried this and it worked

After experiencing slowness, continuous loading and crashing to our laptop, Unfortunately found bad clusters and laptop has now added them to bad clusters file. Will the symptoms re-occur?

You suggest in your video that its recommended to replace the hard drive, However we have been backing up and saving to checkpoints, will restoring the computer to factory settings or to a previous checkpoint from earlier dates remove the bad clusters entirely?

Is there any way you can get back stored information from a corrupted computer? Right now my computer messed up and the screen doesnt come on. I tried it with different screens and none help the problem. And I know the computer still runs because I can hear the sound effect it makes when it comes on. So Im thinking of geting a newer computer but I just need to get the stuff I saved on the older one so I can transfer it. So please, if you can, help quick.

It Worked. Found bad clusters and isolated them. Hopefully it will keep this hunk of burning love running for another while. I will run it till she explodes. Excellent Tutorial.

Extremely helpful and very extensive, thank you. 

My computer's been crashing for weeks and I couldn't figure out why. Didn't think to click on the error flag that Windows has in the 'Hidden Icons' section on my Taskbar...it guided me through the process, but once the computer had restarted, I didn't know how to check what it had done, so that Event Log thing was helpful to know, thank you!

I think it's time to fit an SSD in, in any case.

I am having a WINBRAND.dll error on start up I've seen ways to fix the error with cmd, But the problem is, when i try to open cmd, I get the winbrand error then it closes cmd. PLZ HELP!
