For some reason the 5 7600X was cheaper than the non X version, so I went for that one. The strategy for me is to use this one, and once the last generation of AM5 processors comes out, I want to upgrade to that one, giving me hopefully as big as a performance jump as I will now have from the FX8320 to the Ryzen 5 7600X, can't wait until it comes in.

Went from i7 8700 to the Ryzen 7 7700. Did the PBO tuning with curve optimizer -30 and Thermal limit to 85c . All clocks boost to 5.1ghz max temp 62c. While gaming (mostly bf2042 / bfV) clocks stays constant and 5.4ghz at temp of 55c using a thermalright aio 240mm at 45-55 watts. Ill say the best upgrade i ever did!

Only downside is that they will lose their value faster when selling it off later as people will pay more for the x variant.

if you live in the United States close to a MicroCenter, you are better off buying the x versions because they give you free ram
As for the high temps, just adjust your tdp settings in the bios...

I upgraded from a 7700x to a 7900 non-X. It cost me £430, whereas the 7900X was £440. So only a £10 difference. Both cpu's are available with the new star wars jedi survivor game.

I decided to opt for the 7900 non-X due to a TDP of 65W. That means I can use my Arctic Freezer esport Duo cpu cooler OR my ThermalRight peerless Assassin 120 dual tower cpu cooler (paired with my 2x noctua industrial fans which output 110cfm each).

I cannot be assed buying a 360mm AIO. Besides, I will manually OC the 7900 and see how my air coolers cope. Lots of fun ahead.

7700 faster than 7900 in gaming ? Never expected since 7900 has higher max freq (5.4 vs 5.3) and more cores.
