In asoiaf they got equal opportunity slavers. Valyrians even enslaved other slavers and started slaving harder.

In fairness its not really racial in the show either considering the slavers themselves are also brown

Essos is very diverse both culturally and racially.

Never thought of it racially just where she was geographically. It was that she saw them as people and not objects nothing about race

The Ghiscari are described as having coarse red-black hair and amber skin. In this scene in the Dany chapters, she notes that there were various ethnicities of the slaves (Unsullied), majority with the copper skin and almond eyes of the Dothraki and Lazarene, also Qarth, the free cities and including ethnic Ghiscari. Her line was, "They sell even their own kind"

Those claims were just dumb, hell I'm pretty sure she wasn't even carried in the books, she just rode passed them on a horse.

In the books, no.

In the show, the writers clearly inserted themselves vicariously into Dany. The memes didnt just spring up from the aether.

A lot of those extras were weren't anywhere near "brown". White varies in shades too & anyone standing next to Emilia would look brown by comparison.

Well Morocco IS Mediterranean, and The Arab Slave trade sold and moved more slaves than the Atlantic slave trade combined so actually it isn’t inaccurate

Also… even if D is a white saviour, you can represent something without suggesting it’s a good thing! Clearly in the show Dany’s rule has mixed motives and ends in catastrophe. The whole Targaryen pathology is having a messianic complex.

TBF the Spartans drew flack because the helots WERE Greek. It was the Romans that were equal opportunity slavers.

So far the only bit of racism there is was Aerys being kinda racist to Elia and her kids for being dornish

The first thing that came to my mind the first time I watched that episode was:
Excitement!
Great shot! (reminded me of a shot from Metropolis)... some people aren't going to like it.

I’m sorry but tv is a visual medium and that visual is a porcelain white blonde princess lofted above a sea of brown faces. If they didn’t want it to look racial they could have brought in more variety of skin tones.

Imagine seeing this new world that is rich with cultures and lores and thinking, "Yup, she's white and they're brown."
