The only benefits that are strictly benefits I could think of for HOAs is combining funds for Perks like bulk landscaping, mowing/raking leaves/weeding, and community facilities like pools or parks/playgrounds. These things can make it nicer and can encourage positive social behavior. I will not cite sources as this is honestly pure speculation on my part.

The vampire fang/straw thing? As far as I know, that IS the way they're portrayed in most fictional media for the longest time. It's only recent 'horror and gore' decades where filmmakers want to show vampires and monster just ripping the entire neck/throat out of the victims. After all, why would a vampire 'bite' only be two tiny holes in a person's neck?

Zen, Depending on where you are, an HoA is also a Body Corporate. But they’re more for housing estates and the like if at all. And it’s usually old people that want them because old people have to ruin everything for the rest of us.

mountain dew still has a lot of caffeine in it (54mg for every 12oz) and a very very high amount of sugar (coca-cola only has 51g in a 20oz bottle compared to mtn dew which has 77g in their 20oz bottles).

I live in Europe and I can confirm I have seen Mountain Dew out there in the wild....being even bought one to see what it taste like.

I'd eat any bug, even spiders of which I'm deathly afraid of, so long as they're cooked thoroughly (I'd consider them like meat so I want it well done, and in the case or arachnids, it must be unrecognizable, a spider burger patty.

Most HOAs are nice and beneficial. Unfortunately the minority of nightmare HOAs are far from rare. They're WAY too common.
