Motion Design Process in After Effects Illustrator & Photoshop - Tutorial

This is the process I followed from start to finish of how I created this motion design pieces. This looping animation is part of a collaboration with multiple motion design artists. I go through how I used Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects to create the final piece. This tutorial is suitable for beginners - intermediate users. Your videos are FABULOUS! To the point and fun to watch so thanks for sharing. I like that you went through your process, for example using bezier warp to make the cameras spin, I tend to do everything the hard way so stuff like that is always a plus to learn. And the fact you're always integrating texture with things is really cool too!! Under #1's leaf is probably the same thing you find under a Ken doll's pants--NADA! (ha!)

4:22 - creating pattern background
You could use expressions with sliders to space them out to the size of the composition. Have 10-20 icons per row, per layer shape. Add expression to each Shape layer so that when it's duplicated each layer (with X amount of icons) will go below and shift slightly to the left/right to create offset. Your method is a lot simpler but each time you want to change something you have to re-do it. With expressions you could have sliders to adjust X and Y positions of each element.
I don't know how using that many pre-composes affects rendering. But for something as short as that animation I would probably use the same method as you did :P
