We often think of the holidays as a time to visit family and friends.

However, for some people living in assisted living facilities, visitors aren't necessarily guaranteed.

That's why one local cub scout pack visited residents of Sunshine Communities in Maumee to spread some holiday cheer.

"I wanted to try and do something different and give the kids a little different exposure and show them sides they may not see on a daily basis," said Andrew Douglas, Cubmaster of Pack 144.

Douglas connected with Sunshine Communities, a nonprofit that cares for those with developmental disabilities, in order to throw a Christmas party.

"Doing these kinds of events helps re-instill into the scouts and teaches them about caring for others, being kind to others," said Douglas. "Be able to let them see that everyone here is just like us."
