EKKO BEGINS THE Z-DRIVE AND ALTERNATE VI'S DEATH ARCANE SEASON 2 ACT 3 EP 7

Netflix's League of Legends-based series rocked my world when it first came out in 2021 — and I didn't even know the first thing about League! But despite my lack of knowledge of the source material, I found that Arcane had everything I wanted in a fantasy series: a richly developed world, distinct factions full of nuanced relationships, and breathtaking magical powers and action sequences. Plus, there's no beating that animation. With Arcane Season 1 setting the bar so high, I was worried there was no way its second (and tragically final) season would live up to that standard. Thankfully, Season 2 measures up in every conceivable way and then some, with the first six episodes made available for review raising the stakes to stunning, often unexpected new heights. Brutal, gorgeous, and absolutely devastating, Arcane Season 2 demands to be seen right when each new batch of episodes drops. But as much as Arcane's marketing pushes that this season is all about war and how it links to the rift between Vi and Jinx, Season 2 actually makes some strides into more cosmically weird territory. Innovations in the Hextech space push the boundaries of what is possible in Piltover, igniting discussions about transhumanism in ways that are both disquieting and utopic. That these conversations are happening alongside the Piltover-Zaun war is a reminder that the world of Arcane is so much bigger than these two cities — and so much stranger.

The cruel irony is that Vi's death here results in things turning out for the better, compared to what we've witnessed over the course of these two seasons.

So if Vi dies, Jayce would have ended up in prison because no hextech, vander would have talked to Silco and both would have forgiven and made peace with each other (so no shimmer) and with no shimmer or hextech means no reasons for Noxus to wage war against Piltover.

"Is that what this is about? You want me to change?" "NO".

Ekko was like "not into that please"

Vi’s death did so much, it changed Zaun. While Mylo and Claggor’s death did nothing, they were forgotten.

Episode 7 of season 2 was one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful episodes of a show I've seen. The entire tragedy of knowing things could have been different, but still having the resolve to carry on and save what remains was such a powerful way to summarise Ekko's character and Arcane as a whole.

My eyes were watering for all three of these last episodes. This first episode was the ONLY comfort I experienced in all of season 2. AT LEAST we know there are many other parallel universes and timelines, with so many different outcomes. So while this universe with jinx may have had a lot of loss, maybe there are others that didn’t? That’s literally the only thing that made me a bit happy after this season was over. If you think about it like this, it’s not as depressing imo

D:

So without Vi, they live a better life? That's not fair.

I know it’s not much, but I felt something when Marcus busted in ready to arrest intruders, only to see a little girl screaming for her dying sister and their friends shaken. Instead of the Marcus full of prejudice against anyone from Zaun, his eyes softened and turned sympathetic.

It's a small note, but I like how in this timeline, when Marcus stumbles onto the kids, he looks genuinely distraught at the sight of a sobbing little girl holding her dead sister. Marcus was very disdainful against Zaun in S1 the original timeline (though even he eventually showed compassion to Vi by saving her), but he's not above being shaken up at a dead child, which makes me think that they definitely didn't round up these kids like they first intended to. Just something I enjoyed since he wasn't properly explored in S1, even though I think he had some potential.
